What to Expect in an Autism Evaluation
An autism evaluation should never feel intimidating. We explain every step so you know exactly what to expect before you arrive. Our licensed clinicians use the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS)—a trusted, research-based tool designed to evaluate communication, social interaction, and behavior across all ages.
Each evaluation includes:
Review of Developmental and Behavioral History
We begin by learning about milestones, behaviors, and past assessments to understand strengths and challenges.
Structured Observation and Interactive Activities
Age-appropriate activities help assess communication, social interaction, and behavioral responses.
Team Collaboration for Accurate Diagnosis
Our team of specialists reviews findings together to ensure a thorough, accurate diagnosis.
Results Review and Personalized Next Steps
We explain the results clearly and guide you toward the right care, resources, and support.
We also guide you on how to prepare for an adult autism assessment or childhood autism evaluation in advance, including what documentation to bring and how to discuss concerns during the visit.
Who Performs the Evaluation?
Caring, Professional Support for Every Age and Stage
Evaluations are conducted by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
All diagnostic decisions are reviewed and finalized by Board Certified Psychiatrist, Dr. El-Dabh.
