Counseling is an important component to coping with mental health disorders and working through trauma. In some cases, it is best paired with medication to regulate certain imbalances that may be causing mental health concerns. If you believe you or your child could benefit from a holistic plan that includes therapy and medication, REACH can help.
Our psychiatric counseling center staff specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric and adolescent psychiatric disorders. Our psychiatrists not only have the experience needed to work with young people, but they also care deeply for the well-being and future success of you and your children. Our multi-faceted approach includes psychiatric evaluations, therapy, and ongoing medication management to create an integrated care plan.
What We Treat
We understand that every child and teen will have a unique situation that needs to be addressed. At our psychiatric counseling center, you can rest assured that your child or teen will get the treatment they need from a trained professional.
Our psychiatric counseling services include treatment for the following mental health disorders and behavioral issues:
What Is the Difference Between Counseling and Psychiatry?
In most situations, counseling involves cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or another kind of talk therapy. CBT includes helping clients talk through a mental health issue or trauma, uncover root causes, and develop coping mechanisms.
Alternatively, a psychiatrist would evaluate a client’s mental or behavioral health issue. The evaluation is then used to diagnose and treat the disorder with medication.
At REACH, we aim to do both. Our children and adolescent clients are treated with the care and devotion involved in a counselor-client relationship paired with the medical knowledge and treatment of a psychiatrist.
Services Related to Psychiatric Counseling at REACH
If you’re considering counseling for your child, you may also be interested in family counseling. When parents or guardians and other family members are involved in the counseling process of a child who is struggling, the child tends to make greater strides in their progress toward health.
As your child’s support system, you are an integral part in their overall health. At REACH, we believe in holistic well-being, and that usually starts at home. Pairing family care with psychiatric counseling for your child can only help them improve.
Living through a pandemic can create a vicious cycle. You may be concerned about going out in public to send yourself or your child to a counseling session. On the other hand, the stressors caused by this season in life may make your need for counseling even greater.
At REACH, we have the solution: telehealth therapy. Our counselors are trained to provide the same caring services to you from virtual platforms as they would in person. Whether you would prefer an audio or video call, individual or family counseling, we can work with you, all from the comfort of home.
