Psychiatric Counseling in a Caring Environment

psychiatric counseling

REACH Behavioral Health provides psychiatric counseling services for adults and children experiencing psychiatric and/or emotional difficulties. REACH’s therapists and psychiatrists work together to provide a holistic treatment plan for you. This treatment plan may include exploring the need for medication, as determined by our medical team.

Our goal at our psychiatric counseling center is to treat biological and environmental factors affecting your well-being as we nourish and support your healing. This may include CBT, person-centered therapy, and ongoing medication management all provided by our caring and professional counselors and psychiatric team.

About Psychiatric Counseling

Psychiatric counseling is an important component to coping with mental health disorders and working through trauma. In some cases, it is best paired with medication to regulate certain imbalances that may be causing mental health concerns. If you believe you or your child could benefit from a holistic plan that includes therapy and medication, REACH Behavioral Health can help.

Our psychiatric counseling center staff specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric and adolescent psychiatric disorders. Our psychiatrists not only have the experience needed to work with young people, but they also care deeply for the well-being and future success of you and your children. Our multi-faceted approach includes psychiatric evaluations, therapy, and ongoing medication management to create an integrated care plan.

What Is the Difference Between Counseling and Psychiatry?

In most situations, counseling involves cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or another kind of talk therapy provided by empathetic and trained psychiatric counselors. CBT includes helping clients identify mental health issues, underlying self-talk messages, early traumas, and other root causes of a client’s present distress.

Psychiatry involves the treatment of a client’s symptoms (feelings of anxiety, depression, mood swings) on a biological level, through medication. Medication integrated with a therapeutic relationship with a trusted counselor may provide the nourishment clients need.

In our experience, a combination of CBT, talk therapy and medication is helpful to reduce symptoms and improve the individual’s quality of life. All of these treatment options will be discussed during your initial psychiatric counseling treatment evaluation with a REACH counselor. Our team at REACH Behavioral Health is ready to join with you in your healing journey.

Family Counseling

If you’re considering counseling for your child, you may also be interested in family counseling. When parents or guardians and other family members are involved in the counseling process of a child who is struggling, the child tends to make greater strides in their progress toward health.

As your child’s support system, you are an integral part in their overall health. At REACH, we believe in holistic well-being, and that usually starts at home. Pairing family care with psychiatric counseling for your child can only help them improve.

Telehealth Services

Living through a pandemic can create a vicious cycle. You may be concerned about going out in public to send yourself or your child to a counseling session. On the other hand, the stressors caused by this season in life may make your need for counseling even greater.

At REACH, we have the solution: telehealth therapy. Our counselors are trained to provide the same psychiatric counseling services to you from virtual platforms as they would in person. Whether you would prefer an audio or video call, individual or family counseling, we can work with you, all from the comfort of home.
